Sitting with a cup of tea beside me, having a quick break from writing Chemical Light. Outside, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and there are only a few small, fluffy white clouds to be seen.
And it just occurred to me, whilst looking out at that big sky, that my world has expanded significantly since I first published 'Lifelights'. Once my stories were just for me and my immediate family, then they were for the friends I knew personally and those I made through the internet. These people were kind enough to read and comment on the things I wrote, helping me to improve. Finally, my stories reached a wider audience... There are people out there who I've never met, in places I've never been to, who are picking up, downloading and reading my books - like the lady in Mexico who recently contacted me.
I might not be a bestseller or anywhere close to that yet, but one thing I CAN say. There are readers in Russia, Japan, all over Europe, Canada, India, Australia, America... and Mexico who now know what a Lifelight is.
How amazing is THAT?
It's certainly something that makes me smile as I finish my tea break and turn back to the keyboard... thanks to you all! :)
